Field trip to chayatal

 On the date of 2 December 2022 we student of tourism along with our teacher went to field trip at chayatal and it is located at Heepatal near Hee gown west Sikkim. We reached their at 10 am and our sir paid money for tickets ,entering inside we saw the prohibited sign board, all surroundings was covered by beautiful Flowers and trees .


 Their on the top of hill their is a huge golden statue of Mahatma Te - ongsi srijunga reaching at their we got to know many things, Mahatma Te -ongsi srijunga was the king and is worshipped by the local people. Srijunga was born in tellok kuchintra (yangwarok area) in limbuwan in  1704. his real name was Rupi Hang. Te -ongsi srijunga was 18 century limbu scholar , educator,historian, linguist, leader and philosopher of limbuwan and sikkim. He was formally known as srichongba and even more popularly known as "srijunga".  He was the prominent figure of limboo community.it is said that srijunga was the native of Nepal who came in Sikkim during the chogyal dynasty. During his stay in Sikkim he bring limboo tradition and limboo language in Sikkim. 


From the top of the statue at down we can also see the chaya lake it is the main attraction  of these alluring halmet.the height of the statue was about 35 fet .the people of that place told us that the shadow of statue face is seen in the lake  thatswhy  it  is knows as chayatal (chaya means shadow) (Tal means lake). Boating facilities are also done in summer at chaya lake.the best time to visit chayatal is April to may .there are various accommodation option in the village ,there are guest house and home stay for visitors .and also we can see the Mt kanchan junga from that place .

 


How to Reach chayatal

Chayatal, an alluring offbeat destination in Sikkim, can be reached from Bagdogra or NJP quite easily. From NJP, the village is about 140 km away and usually takes about 5 hours to reach. Bagdogra, the airport near Siliguri, is just 145 km away.
